B&B's vs. Hotels
The Huffington Post wrote this fantastic article about the great advantage of B&B's vs Hotels. It's great to see this kind of recognition! Hopefully anyone who reads this will consider one of the many extraordinary B&B's rather than the same old generic hotel stay.

Zombies!
John and Tina Hough, innkeepers here at The Roosevelt Inn, have many talents. One of John's talents has parlayed into something of a side business and hobby. John has always been an avid reader and often read aloud to his wife and their children; putting different voices into the many complex characters that were created for the family's enjoyment. Someone once suggested that John should share that talent with others. The rest, the say, is history. John began narrating for professional authors and publishers about six years ago. He has read for Allan Cole and Chris Bunch in a variety of Sci-Fi and fantasy novels they have written over the years. Lee Taylor is another one of John's most recent endeavors dealing with ZOMBIES! John has also done narration for some wonderful historical fiction about WWII and a recent one about the USS Ronald Reagan; of of our mightiest aircraft carriers. John finds the work to be challenging and at the same time, immensely entertaining. John likens narration to to being on stage and acting, except in this case nobody sees you and if you make a mistake you get to stop and have a "do-over!" You can find several of John's narration works on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes. Some of the more listened to titles are: the Timuras Trilogy, The Far Kingdoms and Kingdoms of the Night, The Blackened Canteen, Of War and Weddings, and Strike Group Reagan and now Clifton Falls.
Just one of the many things happening at The Roosevelt Inn to keep things interesting.

A Girls' Weekend Getaway
Want to get away with just "the girls"? Do you need what I call a "Mental Health Weekend"? While getting pampered during your stay with us at The Roosevelt Inn (we have a spa room located on the premises, a hot tub and sauna available 24/7, a manager's wine reception every evening and a scrumptious two course breakfast each morning), be sure to check out all the fun, eclectic and interesting shops located in town.
Some of my personal favorites downtown on Sherman Avenue are Lucky Monkey with an eclectic variety of items. A few doors down is Super Silver with gorgeous silver and stone jewelry. All Things Irish, and Christmas at the Lake. Be sure to check out Figpickles, a fun and unique toy store that adults enjoy just as much as the kids.
On Fourth Avenue, you'll find all sorts of thrift stores and cute shops:
Junk (filled with unique and vintage items)
Forget me Not Shop
Rustic Romance (new and vintage items)
Fray
Paris Flea Market (has two locations on Fourth Avenue) has a wide variety of antiques, vintage items and new items too.
For gently used clothing, check out Beau Monde Exchange on Ironwood.
Real Deals on Home Decor is located next to Skate Plaza on HWY 95.

With great sadness
To all of our previous guests/friends it is with great sadness that we report the passing of a valued Roosevelt Inn staff member, Pippin, our beloved Labrador passed away. She took her position as official greeter and lawn companion very seriously. She enjoyed many an afternoon with so many of you while you enjoyed a good book, lively conversation, or her personal favorite; some quiet time in the sun on the lawn. We will miss her greatly!

Two New Rides at Silverwood for 2013!
Exciting news for theme park enthusiasts! Silverwood has announced they are adding two new rides to the only amusement park located in the inland Northwest for the 2013 season! "The first of the two rides will cater to families, and be known as the Barnstormer. The ride gently rotates two carriages filled with riders in a vertical circle, keeping them upright at all times. The ride was manufactured by Zamperla, and originally opened at another park in the year 2000."
"The second new ride will be the big thriller, a gigantic swinging disk ride, standing 104 feet tall. The ride seats 24 passengers at a time, and is manufactured by VISA International. Positioned in outward facing seats, riders will experience up to three and a half Gs while the ride is in operation."
Be sure to check out the latest rides at Silverwood when you stay with us at The Roosevelt Inn in scenic Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, located just 45 minutes from the amusement park.

When you stay with us at The Roosevelt Inn, there are so many things to do in the area. A new attraction, located in the historic Wallace, Idaho, is a zip line that opened late last summer. Located less than a hour from Coeur d' Alene, it's worth the trip. On the short trip to Wallace, there is also the historic Cataldo Mission where is the oldest wooden building in Idaho is located.

Christmas and New Year's at The Roosevelt Inn
It's become a tradition here at the Inn, to release Chinese wish/prayer lanterns on New Year's Eve. The lanterns represent our hopes, dreams, wishes and prayers for the upcoming year. We wish all our guests a wonderful, happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
With the recent snow and frozen fog, the scenery is just amazing. It looks as if all the trees have been frosted. Spectacular!
The ballroom is decked out for a Christmas party. Plenty of room for guests!
Isn't the ballroom lovely? When considering hosting a party, consider The Roosevelt Inn. We'll do all the decorating and cooking so you don't have to.
